The shooting
ache in the chest region sets of waves of panic in patients
who fear the worst, yet studies have shown that approximately
50% of patients admitted to the ER with chest pains have no
significant heart disease present.
The availability
of a cardiac panel in a rapid test format that allows healthcare
professionals to improve patient outcomes by differentiating
between a true emergency and a bad case of indigestion is
now available from LifeSign.
|
 |
| The
LifeSign MI family of cardiac tests allows for rapid qualitative
detection of cardiac markers in 15 minutes with an easy to read
immunoassay. Performing these tests at the point of care |
•
reduces potential ER overcrowding
• improves patient care
• reduces unnecessary testing and admissions |
The
LifeSign MI tests are Troponin I, the simultaneous detection
of Myoglobin/Troponin I, and the simultaneous detection of Myoglobin/CK-MB/Troponin
I.
|
|
These
cardiac markers are enzymes or proteins that are released
into the bloodstream in response to ischemia and detect injury
to the myocardium. Enzymes are released at various stages
of MI:
- Myoglobin
Appears in the bloodstream in abnormal levels as early as
2-3 hours after onset of chest pain.
- CK-MB
Not normally elevated until 4 to 6 hours after the onset
of an MI
- Troponin
I Appears in the bloodstream 4 to 6 hours after muscle
damage

With
its easy procedure and fast turnaround
time, the LifeSign MI is perfect for:
-
Emergency Rooms
- Main
Hospital Laboratories who are short-staffed
- Urgent
Care Facilities
- Critical
Care Clinics
- Occupational
Safety
- Oncology
(for heart damage resulting in high dosages of chemotherapy

Procedure
|
|
|
Dispense
three (3) drops (120ul) of blood, serum, or plasma into the
test well
Read Results in 15 minutes
A line next to the cardiac marker and a line on the control
line indicates the marker concentration is above the cutoff
for an MI.
